Ivan Serdyuk Took Part in the Panel Discussion by Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business – “Strategy Execution in Times of Turbulence”
This week, Ivan Serdyuk, CIO of Valor Capital, took part in a panel discussion organized by the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business on “Strategy Execution in Times of Turbulence.” The event brought together Executive MBA alumni to discuss how companies design and execute strategies amid uncertainty.
Ivan emphasized that turbulence is not an exception but the normal state of today’s world. Effective strategy, he noted, is built not on intuition but on discipline - clear rules, transparent processes, and the ability to adapt quickly. He shared his experience in developing and implementing strategies in the financial sector - from strategic sessions to investment management - where clear frameworks, feedback, and diversification play a central role.
Ivan also highlighted the importance of ethics, culture, and team as the foundation of sustainable strategy, referencing Jim Collins’ principle from “Good to Great”: “First who, then what.” It is people, their values, and mutual trust that determine the success of any strategy and help companies stay on course even in turbulent times.
